* What is Reiki?
Reiki comes from the Japanese terms “Rei,” which is Universal or God-guided, and “Ki,” which is Life Force Energy—also known as Chi or Prana, among other terms in several languages and traditions. Everyone and everything in this universe has universal Life Force Energy in and flowing through them. Reiki, or Universal Life Force Energy, has always existed! We know that matter (including energy) cannot be created or destroyed—only transformed or transmuted. Practicing Reiki involves connecting to the Source of Universal Life Force Energy (God, Allah, the Universe, Higher Power, whichever language resonates best with you—it’s the same entity) and channeling the energy to where it can be used to transform, transmute, heal, improve, or grow. Reiki can be performed for people, animals, objects, food, communities, situations, or events. It is truly universal!
Reiki is intelligent energy, and it exists within everyone and everything. This means that our bodies (spirit and soul included) inherently have everything they need to heal themselves—sometimes we just need a little help getting the energy flowing and healing. In Reiki sessions, I will cleanse a client’s chakras to ensure energy is flowing optimally through the body. As a Reiki practitioner and Master, my goal is to be a pure conduit or conductor of energy. Because it is God-guided and Universal, I do not control the flow. I only invite the energy, set intentions for the energy, and hold space. I always set the intention that the experience is for the highest good of everyone involved. Source guides and controls the energy. With Reiki, as long as your intent is loving and pure, you can do no wrong!
Researchers have conducted many empirical studies to determine the effectiveness of Reiki in the medical field. Pubmed lists over 3,500 articles showing how Reiki has helped people heal or manage pain from cancer, shorten recovery time from surgery, reduce anxiety and depression, among many other benefits.
* What are Chakras?
“Chakra” is the Sanskrit word for “Wheel.” Chakras are energy processing units where energy flows in and out of our bodies, they are called wheels because healthy chakras usually spin as energy flows through them. Chakras exchange energy between your body and its environment, kind of like a gateway. Seven major chakras are located up and down your central nervous system, they can be seen as nerve bundles. Each chakra is responsible for particular endocrine glands and bodily functions in the general area of the specific chakra. When the chakra spin is slowed or stopped due to physical dis-ease, mental or emotional stressors, unhealthy habits or patterns, among other causes; the body does not function optimally in the respective area and/or emotional, mental, or spiritual issues may arise (as each chakra also corresponds with emotional qualities, as well as the physical qualities). Chakra spin can be seen by holding a pendulum above the chakra or felt by experienced practitioners holding their hands above the chakra. During a Reiki session, I will cleanse and balance your chakras for optimal energetic flow and function.
* What is Sound Therapy?
Sound therapy uses sound, music, and specialized instruments played in therapeutic ways, combined with deep self-reflection techniques to improve health and well-being. It’s been said that Sound therapy today is where Yoga was about 10 years ago. Both are tools that have been implemented for millenia, but the Western world is just barely catching on to the indisputable benefits. Everything vibrates at a specific measurable frequency—even stationary objects have their own vibration that can be measured. Sound therapy uses sound waves to wash through clients, essentially cleansing energetically from the inside, out.
* What should I wear to a Holistic Healing Session?
Please dress comfy. Athletic or loose-fitting clothes are perfect. As part of your session, you may move your body a bit before you rest on the treatment table. You will not be asked to remove your clothes. Energy moves through your clothing.
* How much time should I plan for a session?
The sessions usually last around 75 minutes. This gives time to fill out any forms, discuss your current situation and intentions, and provide the treatment appropriate for you. There are circumstances when you may need a little more time in therapy or you may need a little less. Please let me know if you have any time constraints, but 75 minutes is a good amount of time to treat you.
* Where will I be treated?
You will be treated in the comfort of your own home, in the location of your choosing. You may choose a serene spot outside, if it is private enough; but I would recommend choosing a private room where we will not be disturbed for 75 minutes. I may light candles, burn incense, or diffuse oil to elevate the frequency of the room. Usually I play soft music, and lower the lighting. If you prefer to be treated in my in-home studio, that is also an option. Feel free to ask me about that.
